Bell to Bell, No Cell Phone Act

Arkansas lawmakers passed a law earlier this spring stating that students will not be allowed to use their 'personal electronic devices' during the school day.

What is a school day?
The time students are required to be at school until the time they are dismissed for the day. This includes passing periods and lunch.

What is considered a 'personal electronic device'?
Personal electronic devices include personal cell phones, laptops, gaming devices, earbuds, smartwatches, and any other device that can transmit data via Bluetooth.

Are there any exceptions?
Yes, students may still have their devices during emergencies as defined by the law (i.e., weather threats, active shooter, fire), and special events (i.e., ball games, club trips).

The district is currently working with the board to approve a policy defining where students will keep devices and what disciplinary actions will take place if a student violates the state law. Parents may view the law here.
